What is the Nova's latency?
The max speed of 2G, 3G, and LTE CAT-M1 vary on multiple different factors ranging from tower congestion to tower density, carrier and even the weather. Therefore, it is hard to give one specific figure. However, the modems are rated for the following speeds:
- 2G/3G: Download/Upload: 5.76/7.2 Mbps
- Cat-M1: Download/Upload 75/75 Kbps
Do I have to use the Hologram SDK to use the Nova on linux?
No, the Hologram SDK makes setting up a connection easy to use, but it not required to use the Nova. While not officially supported by Hologram, we have seen people use connmann and ofono as well as other AT command based modem managers to connect to the internet.
Does the Python Library work with Python 3?
No, at the moment the Hologram Python SDK only works on Python 2.
How do I uninstall the Hologram Python SDK?
To remove the Hologram Python libraries, we recommend running
pip uninstall hologram-python
Can I use another modem but with the Hologram SDK?
The Hologram SDK currently supports the Huawei E303 and MS2131 modems. Other modems may be supported later.
Is the Nova supported on Windows?
At the moment the Nova is only supported on Linux, but this link to our forum might be helpful if you want to get your Nova working.
